High School

I was recently going through (stealing) books that my brother left here and I came upon some oldies that I read in high school. It made me think that I probably didn't appreciate a lot of them. For example: I hated Lord of the Flies, but when I think about it - it's right up my alley. So, I started re-reading some of them. I read To Kill a Mockingbird again (I actually read that in middle school, but it's one of my fave's so I don't really care), and I just read The Great Gatsby again (still awesome)! Since I switched schools and states in the middle of HS I feel like I missed on out some too (Dorian Gray, Jane Eyre...) So I am going to re-read and read some of those that I felt I missed out on! My all time favorite book I read in HS was The Most Dangerous Game... it's a masterpiece!

New Season...

New seasons of shows are coming back! I am overjoyed to be watching Top Chef and Project Runway again! They make me look forward to the new season of Gossip Girl though... it's been far too long since I have watched that amazingness... There are several reasons I love it so much:

1) Dorota
2) Chuck Bass
3) Blaires wardrobe (see following)

I wish...

I was here... escaping the southern California heat wave!
When will it end?
I get grumpy when it's too hot...

Splendor...

I am generally a pretty even tempered person. I am usually in a good mood, but not particularly excited. Well, yesterday was one of those days where I got REALLY excited... trust me it doesn't take too much : ) I was driving looking for a gift for my dad when I came across a place called zPizza. I had read about it, and heard that they offered gluten free pizza! Since I haven't been able to eat gluten, pizza was one of the hardest casualties to deal with b/c there is really no good substitution... So I ordered my delicious gluten free pizza and decided to head home to eat it. On my way home I was listening to the (500) Days of Summer soundtrack (which is unbelievably good!) and heard this song that I have been trying to identify since 1999 (not really trying THAT hard, but you get what I'm saying)!!! It's the song from Never Been Kissed when they are dancing at the prom. It's by the Smith's and it's called Please, please, please let me... So by this point I am very excited... yummy gluten free food and a 10 year mystery solved! But wait... it gets better. At the end of the CD I realize that She & Him (fave status) chose that exact song to cover! It really is the little things that make life fabulous!

(I didn't take this picure, but this is the exact pizza I ordered!)

Reverie...

I haven't had a weekend without major plans for longer than I would like to think about... After a particularly stressful week I am so joyous at the thought of doing whatever I want today! I think I'm going birthday shopping for my dad, probably a stop by traders for a snack, a trip to Target, I am definitely searching for the (500) Days of Summer soundtrack, and might just find myself at the park (if it's not too hot)... Oh the possibilities!

Technically...

So I found this dress I love! Technically it's a wedding dress...
Am I getting married right now: no
Do I want to get married right now: NO!
Do I still want this dress: YES!
I feel like everyone I know got married, is getting married, or has a bunch of weddings to go to... therefore weddings have been on my mind for a while...

Not to Toot My Own Horn...

But Shelly Swope just called me " The Queen of Adventures." I honestly don't know that I could think of a better compliment! Thanks for bringing my crazy ideas into fruition! We make quite a team!

(500) Days of Summer...

“Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love with girl. Girl doesn’t.”

Yesterday Shelly, Kenz and I had our little LA adventure… We drove to LA to see (500) Days of Summer… On the way we happened to find Urth Café! Urth Café makes my absolute favorite drink in the world, an English tea latte! Yum… Going into this movie, I knew I was going to love it, I just didn’t realize how much. I obviously am a fan of the quirky, and I totally appreciated that this movie was not solely a romantic comedy. I honestly don’t want to ruin too much of the story because I want everyone to go see it! They have some of the funniest dates though. On one date they go to IKEA, they go to the park (that is the scene where Shelly kept saying “Megan, that’s you! You would so do that!”), and they just hang out in LA together… I loved everything about the movie, but with a tag line like that, who wouldn’t?

p.s. I totally want the soundtrack!
