Paris semble me railler dernièrement. Il n'y a littéralement aucun endroit que je serais.

Just Because...

Inception...

Loved it... It was so much better than I thought (and I expected it to be pretty good!).
I truly appreciated that they didn't make Leo have a fake accent... Because we all know his best feature is that voice.

The only thing that I didn't like about the movie was the crazy lady seated in front of me. I should have known when she walked in LATE and proceeded to talk at full volume during the last previews (which are my favorite part of the movie going experience). She was also play fighting with her son over the arm rest the whole time. Not cute. I don't want to give anything away, but there is a certain 6 digit number given in the movie. She took it as her personal quest to remember this number for the entire movie. Yes, she was loudly repeating the number over and over and over... Then she would react violently to anything that happened. Someone got shot, she would say "Oh dear!" or "Darn it!" (at full volume of course). I believe that she really thought she was participating along with the actors...
Luckily for me, the movie was captivating enough to ignore her for the most part... and did I mention Leo AND Joseph Gordon-Levitt were in it... That's reason enough to see it for a second time (or third, or forth...)

Bicycle Envy...

Don't you love these bike helmets??? So cute! I think my fave is the black and white in the right corner...

I am so jealous of these bikes Ellen gave to Miley... they have an iPod dock on them! I've decided there are FAR too many hills here for my cute little bike. I definitely picked form over function... I need a bike with speeds, or I need to get into better shape... I'll just wait for Ellen to give me one of those bikes (and bonus, they are gray!!!)

Four years ago at just about this time, we were in London! One of my favorite things we did while in London was go to Buckingham Palace. It happened to be the Queen's 80th birthday, so they put out 80 of her gowns, and even some crowns/jewelry for display. My grandma, mom, Kristal, and I spent over an hour ogling the dresses! What a fabulous day!

Looking Forward To...

I can't believe the new season starts tomorrow! It's definitely one of my favorite shows... Can't wait to pick a new fave!

When I first heard the title, I thought this sounded awful... but after seeing the trailer (and James Franco) I can't wait to see this movie! Julia Roberts + Travel = Great Summer Movie!

Camera Phone...

I often take pictures with my phone thinking they'll be of some use... Usually I do nothing with them though. At best I send them to someone else... So here are the things I think are interesting enough to take a picture of.

Val and I love to go to Barnes & Noble, drink warm beverages, chat, and read as many magazines as we can stand. This particular night, we had the most scrumptious hot chocolate... the barista topped it with mounds of whipped cream, white chocolate shavings, chocolate sauce, and dark chocolate bars.

Can you catch the typo?

He's my favorite when he's sleeping.

My little wall vignette... unfortunately I didn't get to pick my wall color this time. All of the artwork except for the one in the left corner was found at Leisure World.

He's a strange dog... he loves to be told he's pretty. I can dress him in almost anything as long as I tell him he's beautiful. Here he is modeling some Lilly Pulitzer PJ's... he has great taste.

I spotted this at Anthro in Santa Monica. It was featured on the show Man Shops Globe (it follows the guy who is in charge of buying all the found pieces for Anthropologie... so interesting to see where he goes and what he buys!).

Huge...

Summer is always a slow TV time... the hiatus makes me search out new fun shows though. One of the new shows I found this season ( a little late, but that's OK) is Huge. It's on ABC Family which means it definitely had the potential to be horrible (think The Secret Life of an American Teen), but it actually is pretty funny. It takes place at fat camp, which you all know makes for a fabulous show. The actors are pretty good too... While it won't be replacing Gossip Girl in my heart anytime soon, it's a super fun distraction till it gets here...

Thief...

Someone stole my wedding idea.
And it made it into the Wall Street Journal.
Who could love camp more than me?

She & Him weekend...

It's good to be back! I've spent the last week in various parts of Southern California. We came down and spent several days with my grandparents and even got to visit with 2 of my great aunts! We literally shopped till we dropped, ate, and shopped some more! I feel so fortunate to be able to spend this time with my grandparents. Did I mention they might be the funniest people alive? Going to stay at their house instantly feels like vacation. Since I grew up 3,000 miles away from them, we would spend summers out here. So I was in vacation mode as soon as I walked through the door last week!

I spent the weekend with these girls though! Shelly had bought me a ticket for the She & Him show for my birthday and it was FINALLY time for it! The day started off a little sleepy because of our late night pool party at Kenz's house (it was SO hot!). I perked up when we got to my church though! It was so great to see everyone!

After a fun filled afternoon in Santa Monica, we boarded a bus (I know! So scary, but we totally survived without any huge problems - Shelly did get something gross on her hand though) and headed to the Hollywood Bowl. Everyone had been telling me how much I would love the venue, but I didn't expect it to be one of the best places ever! Seriously it was so picturesque! The weather was nice, the trees were surrounding us, we had an awesome view of the Hollywood sign, and we had great snacks! What could be better? We also saw people hike down the hill and park themselves there for the concert! They are my hero's! I want to figure out how to climb that huge hill!

The opening band was The Bird & The Bee. They were alright. Fun energy and totally enjoyable. The people behind us were probably their biggest fans though. So much obnoxious love was flowing from their drunk selves.

Then came She & Him! I don't know how it's possible, but they exceeded every single expectation. They sounded great live, did all their best songs, and were exactly what I imagined!

And finally, came Swell Season. I had no idea I knew who they were until I read the program! They were from the movie Once. They actually won an Oscar for their song on that movie. They were incredible! They were the pleasant surprise of the evening. Luckily by the time they were on, the drunkards behind us were too drunk to talk, so we were able to listen in peace! What an amazing show and an amazing night!

This is my favorite picture of us singing a long! Both She & Him and The Swell Season had sing a long portions of the night. SO FUN!

The End of an Era...

It's so sad to say farewell to The Hills. Tonight is the last episode EVER! I'm still holding out hope they will start some kind of spin off. At least I still have The City.

You will be missed Justin Bobby...

Yum...

My current obsession right now is hot chocolate! I bought some in Trader Joe's and this crazy lady came up to me telling me all about what kinds I should try. While I was very anxious to get away from her craziness, she did raise some curiosity in me. So when I ventured to World Market (one of the most fun places ever!) I headed straight for the hot chocolate section. I was so surprised to see all the different kinds they had! I decided to be non committal and buy 3 single servings instead of 1 regular size. I bought Mexican hot chocolate, Dulce De leche white hot chocolate, and salted caramel hot chocolate! I tried the salted caramel last night and it did not disappoint! And to further my hot chocolate obsession, I read that Starbucks is making it's signature hot chocolate into an ice cream! That may be a little more season appropriate :) Although let's not kid ourselves... I would never turn down a hot chocolate.

Hey Soul Sister...

I'm sorta obsessed with this song right now. When I first heard it, I really didn't love it though. I guess it has just grown on me! These are my favorite lyrics:

I knew when we collided
you're the one I have decided
who's one of my kind

R.I.P.

Today marks the 10 year anniversary since the last episode of Freaks & Geeks aired. It's hard to believe I was only 14 when it ended. It's also hard to believe this show was cancelled. Now the actors in it are making/starring in so many popular movies. I guess they were just a bit ahead of their time. Let's hope there's a reunion!

Summer Scent...

The weather up here certainly does not feel summery, but I'm in full summer mode! One of the ways I know it's summer is when I pull out the CK1 Summer! It's not the name that makes it summery for me, but the memories. I bought my CK1 Summer in Paris! It was a good thing too... Our next stop, Oxford, smelled terrible. Our sheets smelled terrible, the bus smelled terrible, all of Regence Park smelled terrible... In lieu of Febreeze (which I could not find for several days), I sprayed everything and I mean everything with my perfume. Oh to be back in Oxford... That was arguably the best summer of my life!

The absolutely beautiful Regence Park!

Southern Summer...

I love stories set in the south. This summer I've really been enjoying some of the greatest southern stories.

My mom and I watched Secret Life of Bees today. I've read the book before, but it's been a while. I would love to re-read it, but it's stuck in some box in the garage. The movie is SO GOOD though! Definitely a must see.

To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my top 3 favorite books. We rented the CD's from the library and have been listening on our treks to and from LA! It's rare we find a book the whole family can agree on! We were also lucky enough to catch the movie the other day. It's as good as the book!
Now I'm searching for another great Southern story... suggestions are welcome!

Happy 4th of July!
I'm so excited to spend fun times with family & friends!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder...

I miss shopping.
The shopping here is definitely lackluster at best. The sad (sick) thing is that I've actually been having very vivid shopping dreams. Last night I was in Anthropologie. I even picked out a darling dress (on sale) when I woke up.

Nice Try...
