Memorial Day...

Happy Memorial Day!

Today is my first official holiday since returning to work, so I am taking full advantage of being lazy all day!

I had a great weekend full of picnics, movies, & phone calls with dearly missed friends!
And it's officially my birthday week!

The Help...

This book was SO GOOD! Can't wait to see the movie!

Gloria...

I introduced you to my new car, Gloria, last week & a lot has changed since then. I was so excited to have her in my life at first, but now I realize she brings nothings but trouble. I got into my very first accident last week. My cracked bumper will cost around $900. Thank the Lord for insurance (I still have to pay $250 for the bumper & a lot for 6 months of insurance though). As if an accident wasn't bad enough, Gloria got a flat tire today. She ran over a nail. I think I liked life better pre-Gloria. I was meant to car pool :)

Kate + Leo

Did you hear Kate & Leo were voted most romantic couple? They beat out Scarlett & Rhett. I do love them.

What's Up...

2011 has been a year of pretty big changes so far. February we moved into our new house, March I got a job, & April I got my first car! I am so excited about everything that has been going on in my life, but it's a bit overwhelming at times. Which would of course be the reason it's been so long since I've updated this blog!

My job is going really well though! I really like it.

And this car is such a blessing. I've been perfectly content sharing a car with my parents, but we've been waiting for a really good deal on a car. To make a long story short - this car was a good deal solely because of human error. It's nearly brand new (only 6,000 miles on it) & we got it for the price of used car. It is lacking a name though... Every good car must be named.

My True Style...

I am in the process of decorating my new office. They are painting it tomorrow, so I'm starting to really gather things & try a find a focus. I love dreaming & designing rooms in my head, and I had some basic ideas in my head when we hit World Market tonight... I'm working in the youth building, so I wanted it to be bright & fun, but still reflect a professional office setting. Then I realized that I couldn't get away from my own style when I found this gem...

Yes, I bought a pillow with a hot pink parrot on it. Does it say professional? Absolutely not. But it does scream "Megan"!!! (after all, my favorite ride at Disneyland is the Tiki Room!) After brief consideration, I decided it was much more important to create an environment that I loved than one that I thought looked "professional" (trust me my coworkers don't care). I don't know how everything else will turn out yet, but I know I will at least LOVE this pillow.

Pretty Makeup...

Love the pink lips & turquoise necklace. Such a pretty combo!

Again I love the pink lips. I'm not generally one for bold lips (I hate red lips), but I may need to try hot pink! Especially for summer...

I love the tiny glint of metallic eye liner. Really pops.

These girls make me want to put a bit more effort into my daily routine...

Colorful Cakes...

How fun are these cakes? I don't know exactly why, but I think the bright colors make them look even more delicious. It must be the unexpected heat wave we had, but I am loving all things bright right now!

Friday, April 1, 2011

This is the first Friday in a LONG time that I actually care about. I finished my first official week back at work. I have to say it was really great. Sleeping in tomorrow with be ever greater though :)

Lunch Break...

Genae & I had the best lunch break ever today. We stopped by to pick up our Britney CD's then we went to Starbucks :) Nothing like listening to new Brt Brit & sipping my marble mocha :)

Now & Then...

Devon Sawa was one of my very first celebrity crushes. I recently saw a current picture of him (I don't think I'd seen him since Final Destination)... It was crazy - I probably wouldn't have even recognized him... Check out this progression.

Devon Sawa in Now & Then (one of my all time faves!)

Devon circa Final Destination...

... and all grown up!

It's crazy to think your childhood crushes grow up.
He's been is some great movies though!

Let's hope he's staging a come back.

A Few Things...

I am totally feeling the maxi dress trend. It is SO WINDY in the Central Coast, it's the best option for wearing a dress... Oh & you don't have to shave your legs :)

I love this pic of Henry sleeping on my bed in his shirt! He likes to look out the window & huff at people (he's not really a barker, he huffs)...

Fancy braids!

I think I need this ginormous flower! It's so fab & it's hot pink!

First thought - Gross
Second thought - I want to touch them
Third Thought - I'll take one!

Hello Sunshine...

I love these delicate necklaces that somehow manage to be statement pieces as well (both literally & figuratively)!

I think this one is my favorite! It would make me happy just to wear it. (Kate Spade)

Cute initial. I feel like there are so many ugly initial things out there. This manages to be a bit different & subtle.

March 20th...

Happy First Day of Spring

Hmmm...

I can't decide if this cute or disturbing...
I'm leaning more towards cute.

Old Time Radio...

One of my recent Leisure World finds was a pack of 30 tapes of all sorts of old radio mystery shows. I've been slowly making my way through them & I am loving them so much! I really think we should incorporate radio into our lives more! The first tape was stories from The Black Museum (insert creepy noises here) starring Orson Welles. Amazing. I loved it! It starts out every episode with Orson Welles saying this:
"This is Orson Welles, speaking from London. Here in the grim stone structure on the Thames that houses Scotland Yard is a warehouse full of souvenirs, where everyday objects - a skipping rope, a glass, an iron, a stepladder - are all touched by murder."
Then they go on to introduce whatever the murder weapon is for that weeks story & tell the story after. The stories have been really good so far & I can't wait to listen to the rest of my 30 tapes :)
p.s. My set of tapes was such a bargain! It was a brand new set that sold in store for $59.99... I got them for $1.00! I love you LW!

YESSS....

Miley's Closet...

So I just found out that Miley is auctioning off a bunch of her clothes to benefit charity. How cute are these scarves? I would honestly pick them out even if they weren't hers...

You can visit the auction HERE.
Oh and don't forget my 25th birthday is right around the corner :)

Canoe...

Confession: I don't know that I've ever really been canoeing. I've been a passenger & I've canoed at Disneyland, but neither of those really count in my book. With that said, I still want to try it. Don't the pictures below make it look like the most fun thing ever?

Secrets From A Stylist...

Emily was my absolute favorite contestant on the Next Design Star, so I was delighted to see that her new show is everything I hoped it would be! Her new show takes different peoples personal styles (she comes up with the cutest names for each persons styles! I would love to know how she would peg me), and layers them over each other to achieve the perfect, well balanced room! It's absolutely fascinating! I think she has impeccable taste, but she also is a bit quirky... That's the best combo! Did I mention she wears really cute clothes???

Above is a picture of one of the "layers" she created for a couple. This was just the first layer, it was geared to please one person. She then will add other layers to satisfy the whole couple. I personally favored this first layer though! I think it's perfection!
Also, she has a really fun blog (I just found this out!)...

Happy Happy Birthday...

Today is one of my faves 26th birthday!
Happy Birthday Shell!
So sad I can't make it to your party, but I will be wearing an outrageous hair accessory just for you!
Can't wait to adventure with you for your bday!
Love you so much!

I am absolutely in love with these sunglasses! These are Nicole Richie's design. How smart to make sunglasses & earrings in one!

Birthday Celebration...

Last week I was lucky enough to celebrate my dear friend, Kenz's, 25th birthday! As is tradition, Kenz, Shelly, & I celebrated together. For this years adventure, Kenz decided we should trek out to Pasadena to go to the Norton Simon Museum.

Before we headed out, we tried our best to embarrass Kenz. It's become a tradition to wear something dumb for her bday. She's used to us by now though & doesn't embarrass easily :) I actually think her headband looks a bit like a crown - which is very fitting for the bday girl to wear!

We had a great time looking around the museum. I have to say some of the people were as interesting as the art... We had the seriously scary museum worker who was pacing & talking to himself & the art snob that judged Shelly & I the entire time. Let me explain, I told Shelly a very dumb joke about Degas, Shelly thought it was funny - but art snob DID NOT! To make matter worse, he overheard Shelly saying something in the gift store & gave us judging looks again! He was my favorite.

Shelly was piffed (ha) that this was considered art...

Love this pic!

Kenz picked out a SUPER FUN restaurant for dinner. It was so good! The best part of the whole dinner was being serenaded by the mariachi band! They were seriously awesome. Perhaps my favorite part of the amazing evening!
