Loves It...

Why Am I Drawn to Beards???

For some reason I love things related to beards...

False Hope...

Tomorrow was supposed to be my last day of work, but I received an email from my boss this morning asking me to stay another week.  Of course I will stay another week, I am honestly thankful for the opportunity... but I had already made fun plans for next week!  I am the kind of person who has to mentally prepare herself for ANYTHING, whether it is good or bad.  I had mentally prepared myself for unemployment, but now I am trying to mentally prepare myself to work for at least another week.  I had completely checked out.  On a side note - I think I may have the best co-workers ever!  They make it a happy place!

Loving It...

So, I know that this dress got mixed reviews... but I'm obsessed with it.
I kinda wonder why she was invited to the Oscars (along with Jessica Biel... being on 7th Heaven does not qualify you for an Oscar)
but I WANT her dress!

I liked Natalie Portman's dress too...

Always good times...
Thanks to Jeanna and Shell for making my bad day turn out to be a fabulous day!

Celebrity Sitings...

Within the past week I have seen 1.5 celebrities!

The first one was Sunday at the Diz...
While some of us were on a ride, our friend spotted Diane Keaton.  We headed in her general direction and saw that it was indeed Diane Keaton.  She was wearing a long black puffy coat, and a hat, but it was clearly her.

The .5 in the equation happened at RALPHS of all places...
Shelly and I were just stopping by to pick stuff up and I thought I recognized this guy as he passed by... I finally realize it was Johnny from The Real World.  He then ends up in line right behind us so we can confirm.  Being the genius I am, I tell Shelly once we get in the car we should follow him.  Like stalkers we wait for him to get in his car and  pull out.  We start to follow him, but are painfully obvious so  he seriously zooms off and completely EVADES us... sad but true... He's not that cute in real life anyways : )

I Need a Dream Interpreter...

So this is my dream last night...
My friend (Kristal) asks me if I want to go on a road trip.
Of course I do!
She tells me she's going to trade in her car for a better "road trip car"
She comes back with a jeep with NO sides NO top and NO back...

Then I'm suddenly riding my bike to the library.
I'm going up the stairs (there are no stairs in my library) and I pass Obama.
He holds out his hand and says "Free Pakistan."

Then I wake up...

Supposed to be...

It's supposed to be a rainy day, I'm going to go make coffee, and then I'm going to the Diz... Does life get any better???

Library Scented Perfume???

There is this new website called I Hate Perfume and they have some "unconventional" scents.  One of my personal favorites is called In The Library.  Here is the makers description:

I love books, particularly old ones. I cannot pass a second hand bookshop and rarely come away without at least one additional volume. I now have quite a collection!

Whenever I read, the start of the journey is always opening the book and breathing deeply. Don't you find there are few things more wonderful than the smell of a much-loved book? Newly printed books certainly smell very different from older ones. The ink is so crisp. I've also noticed that books from different periods & different countries also have very different smells. And then there are the scents of different bindings: leather is marvelous of course but I find a peculiar pleasure in musty worn clothbound books as well. Perhaps just a hint of mildew!

The main note in this scent was copied from one of my favorite books – I happened to find a signed first edition of this novel a few years ago in London. I was more than a little excited because there were only ever a hundred in the first place!

I don't know that I'd particularly want to smell like a book... but it would be great as  a room spray... and it might be interesting if a guy wore it!  Some of the other scents they have are

"Smoke", "November", "The Beach", and "Memory of Kindness".  I'm a little intrigued...

Seriously...

Go see Slumdog Millionaire... I saw it on Wednesday and I am still thinking about it... I won't give up too much of the story, but it is amazing to see this guy's life... There were so many tragic things, yet so many humorous things... I can't say anything other than you HAVE to go see it... You will love it!

Post Secret...

I am currently obsessed with the blog Post Secret.  It's the place where people send in their secrets anonymously... I desperately wish  I was interesting enough to have a secret to send in!  Most of them are super depressing: but here are some of the ones I liked!

Think Positive...

... I'm trying to start this week off a little better than last...

Church Moments...

This Shelley and I truly laughing and not having to hold back!

No, I'm not talking about wonderful moments in church... I am talking about those moments when something funny happens and you CANNOT laugh b/c you are in church.  I'm talking about those moments when it takes everything you have just to not burst into laughter and disrupt everyone around you.  I had one of those today.  I mistakenly thought that our associate pastor had started praying, so I closed my eyes and was praying.  Right after I started "praying" my mom leaned over to whisper something to me.  I could not believe she was whispering during prayer, so I gave her a weird look and told her to be quiet.  It turns out that we were not in fact praying, we were supposed to be singing and it looked like I fell asleep!  In other situations this would not be funny, but because of the fact that we were supposed to be quiet my mom and I were trying so hard not to make and noise, but we were laughing so hard!  Here are a couple other "church moments"

  • At a seminar for our church one night we were watching videos with different theorists and scientists.  My mom and I were getting bored, so we started playing pick or pass whenever someone new would come on the screen.  When it was my turn I got this CRAZY looking guy and she and I burst into laughter... we could not contain our laughter for this one.
  • At camp one year there was this girl sitting in the row in front of me with her hair in a sorta messy ponytail.  The guy who was sitting next to me was trying to be nice, so he went to take a hair off her shirt.  Turns out the hair was attached and her head FLUNG back!  It took me almost an hour to calm down after that one.
  • Another year at camp (this one is really bad) they were doing a final alter call.  There were lots of people up on this stage, but this one particular guy was in plain view and bent over.  I kid you not, his entire butt was hanging out.  That was probably the most inappropriate time I have ever laughed at church!
Come on, you know you have some... I can't be the only terrible person!
