M.I.A.

Sorry I've been MIA for a while... my life has been all sorts of crazy!
First of all - WE MOVED! We are officially in our house in Nipomo (which I will always refer to as Pismo since nobody in the world knows where Nipomo is!)

Before I moved in, I had several adventures though :)
My friends were kind enough to give me shelter for the extra week and a half I stayed. We packed so much fun into such a short time... we danced with ELLEN!

Yes, THE Ellen! We saw movies, ate a lot, rode elephants, went shopping, and even went to the movies in the Hollywood Cemetery (which is one of the highlights of my life!).

My mom then picked me up and took my to my grandparents, where we had some more fun!
Thursday night my mom and I headed to Pismo for good.
Friday I unpacked like a maniac.
Saturday morning Val & Veronica came for a fun filled Memorial Day weekend!

We adventured and explored the area. I think the highlight of the weekend for all of us was this little town called Harmony.

Only 18 people live in Harmony. Seriously. They have an amazing Pottery shop, and a glass blowing studio. It was so amazing to watch them in action. We all decided we needed to take glassblowing classes! We also went to a winery, saw sea lions up CLOSE, went to the Strawberry Festival, and explored dowtown SLO.
I absolutely have loved every moment of the past few weeks.
And now I can finally get my much needed rest :)

Leisure World...

Leisure world parking. I have been envious of that pink 3 wheeler since I was in college. Can't wait to find that at a sale!

One of the things I will miss the most when we move is our Thursday Leisure World tradition. Every Thursday morning my mom, grandma, 2 of my great aunts, sometimes and second cousin and I get together. We start the day at Hoff's Hut for breakfast. Meredith is our waitress and she has memorized our orders, so we only have to inform her if we wish for something else. She's great! Then we head to Leisure World to hunt for treasures (literally). The sales are listed in that days paper, so we never know what kind of day we are going to have. Today was fabulous! First of all, it was the annual church rummage sale (which means tons of stuff, most of it insanely cheap). We hit the jackpot though because there were 3 other sales! We hit the rummage sale first where I picked up 4 books for $1.00, a pair of sunglasses that look like Ray Bans (also $1.00), and the most amazing thermos ever. I'm saving it for THE epic road trip. And yes, that was also $1.00.

Now my VW bus needs to match my thermos

Then we headed to John's sale. John is my favorite dealer (I realize that doesn't sound great). He's from Ukraine, so he has an awesome accent, and he always wears button down shirts unbuttoned to his belly. Let's not forget the massive scar across his chest that he flaunts. He's my fave because he always tells me I'm beautiful and gives me good prices (shallow? maybe). He had the most glorious pink bed today! He asked me if I saw it, and I told him how much I loved it. His helper then says to me,
"A girl as pretty as you would look like a queen in that bed."
Awkward. I think this is my week for awesome quotes! Keep in mind these are all old people I'm talking about. Needless to say, I paid for my elephant drawing and quickly exited.

Have you ever seen a more glam headboard? It came with a matching bench seat for the end of the bed. It was so hard not to buy!

I think one of the reasons I love LW is because it so unpredictable. You never know if there will be sales, what will be at the sales, and who you will see. We've gotten some amazing antiques, seen old people fights, and made friends with some of the the dear old folks! It is certainly it's own little world. I can't wait to live there one day!

The trolls were definitely our funniest find of the day. I wish this picture could capture the sheer size of them. They are the size of small children. No worries, we did not buy them!

After we are done shopping we always stop at McDonald's for a cold beverage. We tried the new Frappe's today. Then we head out for whatever adventure any of us can think of. They range from book stores, to the beach, to Nordies. I will really miss this tradition. But my wallet will be relieved.

I remember being so excited to see this globe when I was little and we would come to visit my great grandma Edie. I still get that feeling!

Moving...

I think my back is broken from lifting so many heavy boxes.
I'm finding fun things though!
Thankfully, I have dinner tonight to look forward to!

"Thanks for the shower princess."

I've now had a Disney pass since I was 16. I've been more times than most people would ever want to go. I thought I had experienced most of what Disney had to offer, but yesterday I was able to experience something new and oh so exciting. We canoed at Disneyland! I've always been envious of the canoers ( I think I just made up that term), thinking it was something you had to sign up for or something... When Caroline told me all you had to do was wait in line I was ecstatic! The line was really short, so we basically walked right down, got our paddles, and were on the next boat. The guy in front of us in line was absolutely hilarious! You could tell he was waiting all day for a willing audience. Then Val stabbed me in the toe with the paddle! When we finally got going on the canoe, we realized we were in perhaps the worst canoe ever... I think only 6 people were actually rowing, and none of us were exactly rowing together. Our guide was hilarious! He kept making fun of us and the people on shore. Well, he decided we were way too slow, so he started to paddle really hard (he was sitting right in front of me) so I stopped paddling. He made some snide remark, so I started to paddle again. Unfortunately, I was out of stride by that point, and I ended up splashing him really hard. He had water all over one side of him! I was cracking up, but I don't think he thought it was that funny. When we finally arrived back at the dock and were unloading, he was helping me out and said,
"Thanks for the shower princess. My mouth was open."
Oops!

Tradition...

I love Tristan & Isolde.
I still remember when we went to go see it in theaters. Our entire cottage went together, including our foreign exchange students who had never been to a theater before. When we walked into the theater, it was filled with almost all Cal Baptist girls. Everyone one so pumped for it - which made it so much more fun! When James Franco first walked on stage, all the girls were yelling and whistling (can you blame them?). Well, we of course bought the movie when it came out and watched it over and over... but it quickly turned into tradition for us to watch it every year on move in and move out day! Val and I watched it last night and it seemed appropriate timing... unfortunately Kristal and Jeanna were not here to enjoy this tradition!

Have you Heard...

It is exactly 1 month till my 24th birthday! Woo! I thought now would be a good time to start brainstorming gift ideas...

Who doesn't want an angora bunny???

I always start out with the unrealistic ideas first : ) I'm loving the green one though.

I have no idea why I am drawn to this Gap purse, but I love it!

oh Toms, how I love you! I don't wear much red, but these are darling!

I can't believe I don't own this CD! I really love She & Him though... rumor has it they will be in Southern California in August... who wants to go?!?

I adore these book covers! I received several for Christmas, but not Cranford. Sadly, none of us had even heard of it until we tivo'd it on Masterpiece Theater. It's such a great story!

With Pismo looming in the near future I've been thinking about beach wear. Of course Anthro would have the absolute cutest beach hat in the world!

And I absolutely adore this J Crew tshirt! Wouldn't it be cute with jeans, a cardi, and those red Toms?

I just love birthdays!

Thank you Sprouts...

My mom and I went grocery shopping the other day at Sprouts and were ecstatic to find that everything gluten free was on sale! So you better believe I stocked up on "essentials." I'm actually ridiculously excited about 2 of our finds.

One was my absolute favorite ice cream in the world. It's chocolate fig. Yum!

The second will be harder to understand for those of you who can eat gluten. There are lots of gluten free breads on the market, but most them are as heavy as bricks, and crumble the second you touch them. I found this bread that is delicious and is as close to real bread as I've had in over a year! I think I'll go have some toast : )

Post Secret...

I wish I was that brave.

CBU we love you...

2 years ago today, I graduated from California Baptist University. I feel so old! We went to graduation today and all the great memories boiled up. I am so thankful that I had the college experience I did, but having such a great time does make it harder to leave! Thankfully I got to take my wonderful friends with me!
