I Have a Good Life...

I have been so blessed in 2009. I would have to title this year, "Fun!" I know it seems kinda lame, and basic, but I have really just had an incredibly fun year. From days at the Diz, movies, my trip to the east coast, road trips, shopping trips, meals with friends, parties, the zoo, concerts, and all the fun in between! I have picked some of my favorite "fun" moments of the year in pictures (although I have to say the the Britney concert beats out all other moments of 2009!)! I can't wait for 2010! I'm thinking it's title will be "adventure" :)

Resolutions...

I don’t generally do this. I think the last New Years resolution that I made was to read more books. That’s the way to really do it. Pick something you already like to do and just try to increase that. I’m going to actually throw a real one out there this year. It’s finally time. I’ve decided that this is going to be the year I learn to cook! My cooking abilities are really pretty sad when I think of how old I am. I cook maybe 3 things a year that do not come of the freezer or a box . I have finally accepted the fact that I will not be rich and have a personal chef, and because of my (annoying) dietary restrictions, most people are scared to cook for me at all. I actually love the idea of cooking. The Food Network is one of our faves, as are shows like Top Chef. If I’m being completely honest I also think that once I conquer some of my culinary fears, I will truly enjoy the process. All that being said, this is what it is going to look like. By January of next year I want to be able to cook at least 10 things! I know, I know… shoot for the stars! If I don’t set some sort of goal I won’t even try, and if I set my goal to high I won’t even try. So I’ve chosen 10 things (either theme or ingredient) that I like to eat, can eat, and think I can master. They are: Eggs, Potatoes, Soup, Veggies (side), Veggies (main), Dessert, Appetizer, Mexican, Italian, and French (I’m going to need Ina’s help for that one!). I’m actually a little excited, and a little nervous. I will have to get over my fear of raw fish, fish in general, raw mushrooms, my hands smelling like onions/garlic/citrus, slicing, mayonnaise, and any dessert that doesn’t come from a box! I will keep updating my progress!

National Geographic...

My dad has this cousin that forwards every email he's ever gotten. As this post will prove, sometimes it turns out to be a good thing. He sent my dad the best National Geographic pictures of the year. They are all truly amazing... although I'm partial to the bear.

Memories...

I’m pretty sure that I had the perfect childhood. The only think I would have changed about it would be that pony I always asked for. Since I have so many fond memories, I love things that remind me of my childhood (books, movies, places…). Thanks to reprogramming our TiVo because of the move, I can now add TV shows to that list. While my mom and I were searching for our regular shows, we stumbled across Christy and Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, two of my favorite childhood shows. I am slowly working my way through them and thoroughly enjoying every minute of them! They seem so out of date, but so wonderful at the same time. I never realized how “moral” Dr. Quinn was, it seems like there are life lessons hidden (and overt) in every single episode. I have also decided that I want to move to Cutter Gap. The adventures in both shows seem to be endless. It makes me wonder (disclaimer: I’m going to be an old person here) what my children will watch. There aren’t any shows of that kind anymore. I suppose that is why you can buy the complete series : )

Must Have...

Exhausted...

I hate being super busy. I love nothing more than relaxing and taking time to smell the roses. I feel like I have been running around like a crazy person though. Don't get me wrong, I've been having a blast. I started the month off with a work Christmas party (which I had to help plan), my grandma's birthday extravaganza (a whole weekend), Diz with friends, Diz with family, HTC Christmas party, Church friends Christmas party, Reindeer games (in the pouring rain!), Family Christmas party (parts one and two), Christmas shopping, Newport boat parade, Cookie parties... and sadly the list goes on. I just want to sleep this weekend and do nothing! Sadly I am doomed to be even more exhausted. Andrew is coming to town Saturday and Andrew = party! I'm so excited to spend time with him, but maybe my New Years resolution will be to go to sleep earlier. I mean am like 75 years old at heart...

VW Love...

I absolutely do not care about cars... but I've found my dream car! It's a VW Microbus... like the original, but safer! I don't even think it's out yet, but I'm saving my pennies (not really)
